About Us
I'm Melissa and I was raised by my grandparents in the most beautiful place in the world - The Dominican Republic. Each day I witnessed them working excruciatingly hard to not only provide the very best for me but to simply survive as well. My grandmother knew of the better education and opportunities in the USA and spent years saving to send me there. At the young age of 13 I left everything I knew to embark on a new life and to make my grandparents proud.
Leaving my grandmother behind was and still is very hard for me. As I became older I decided to make my grandparents proud by becoming a Fashion Designer but yet I felt empty to just have a diploma and a fancy title. I knew I had to do more then just that so I came up with the idea of sewing together the two things I love; Fashion and helping others. I created The Cruz Maria Foundation (named after my beautiful grandmother) to help older people like my grandmother in their daily struggle to afford medications.
